Mac install help
macOS says the app can't be opened because Apple cannot check it
All Vigod Labs Mac apps are code-signed and notarized with Apple, so this message should be rare. If you do see it, right-click (or Control-click) the app in Finder and choose Open — macOS will ask you to confirm and then remember your choice. Alternatively, open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down to the Security section, and click Open Anyway next to the app name. You only need to do this once.
Which Macs are supported?
All Vigod Labs Mac apps require Apple Silicon (M-series chips). Intel Macs are not supported. Minimum macOS versions per app: CaffeineTimer requires macOS 13 Ventura or later; Orbit Launcher requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later; JellyBar requires macOS 15 Sequoia or later. Velocity is a Chrome extension and works on any Mac running a supported version of Chrome.
How do updates work?
Orbit Launcher updates itself automatically using Sparkle — you'll see a prompt in the app when a new version is available. For CaffeineTimer and JellyBar, updates arrive via re-download from the product page, or automatically if you installed via Homebrew (brew upgrade). Velocity updates through the Chrome Web Store like any other extension — Chrome handles this in the background.
How do I uninstall?
Quit the app, then drag it from your Applications folder to the Trash. That's it — there are no background daemons, no login items left behind, and no preference files that need manual cleanup (though a small ~/Library/Preferences/ plist may remain, which is harmless). If you installed via Homebrew, run brew uninstall <appname> instead.
Is Velocity supported too?
Yes. Velocity is a Chrome extension rather than a Mac app, so the install questions above don't apply — but it's fully supported. Updates come through the Chrome Web Store automatically. If you run into an issue, check that you're on the latest version: open Chrome, go to Extensions → Manage Extensions, and click Update. If the problem persists, send a note to marc@vlminc.net.
